SECURITECH VISION

What Makes Us Different.

Securitech has earned a reputation in the door and hardware & security industries as the go‐to company for innovative door locking products. If someone else doesn’t make it, call Securitech. We’ve provided industry‐changing locking solutions in multiple disciplines for a varied array of end‐users. Securitech is an independent company, founded and guided by Simon & Mark Berger. Simon began the Berger family foray into security by importing a multiple‐point lock from Israel and installing and distributing it in the U.S. While successful in some very high profile installations in New York (from the mayor’s bedroom and bathroom in Gracie Mansion to every classroom receiving a computer), the specialized installation limited the product’s growth.

Mark joined the company and in 1983 and together with the existing partners (the late George Garfield and Dr. Leon Reich) they created Securitech Group Inc., with the premise of developing multiple‐point locking to meet American standards. (Dr. Reich is no longer affiliated with Securitech.) They soon discovered that architects, consultants and security directors recognized the company for more than just the products which were being introduced – they recognized Securitech as an innovator, not married to existing locking methods or procedures. Innovative product creation is at the heart of Securitech.

The willingness to create effective solutions as requested by an end‐user or dealer has yielded products which are sold in the thousands.

Securitech introduced multiple‐point automatic deadbolt locking, which spawned the single‐point version which the US Postal Service specified for all their carrier entry doors. The multi‐point version took on a life of its own as the first products tested to meet FEMA windstorm requirements. Electric locking was the next frontier for Securitech and their unique approach to electromagnetic lock release and signal generation were heralded as the code‐compliant way to accomplish multiple goals.

New York City’s Department of Housing specified Securitech’s Maglatch and Electrolatch for their apartment building renovations throughout the city, as did (and do) many individual landlords and management companies. Securitech was chosen to develop specialized electric locking for the Port Authority of NY/NJ’s electric locking project as part of the World Trade Center reconstruction after the 1993 bombing. Major retailers across the U.S. rely upon Securitech for code‐compliant protection against forced entry. Securitech’s Trident Series has enabled safe locking of exit doors and the innovative approach to alarming the door is recognized as the most effective method of notification. Securitech has developed innovative solutions for other major users including a life‐safety exit device and alarm for all of New York City Transit’s emergency gates, a user‐friendly gate locking system for Yankee Stadium and access control locking releases for existing locks on storefront doors. Behavioral health is the latest frontier where Securitech’s innovation has led the industry to providing a safer environment. In this case, Securitech partnered with Stanley for national distribution and in a relatively short window the anti‐ligature lockset became the product of choice for mental health professionals as they renovated or built new psychiatric wards in hospitals.

Continuous innovation is only possible when you can develop and retain talented people. The majority of Securitech’s design team has over fifteen years of experience with the company, within an employee base that includes several twenty year employees. And every Securitech employee is part of the design team, as the sales force and in‐house support team provide the critical information gathering and development link. Securitech’s sales team is recognized for its tenacity in attending to the customers and end‐users that use Securitech solutions.

Going the extra mile to satisfy a customer is not the exception, it is the rule practiced day in and day out.

To support this product creation initiative and ambitious production variety, Securitech maintains a 30,000 sq. ft. facility in Maspeth, Queens and a satellite production facility in Tirgu Mures, Romania.

Global sourcing has been key to Securitech’s success, while domestic production and assembly assures the highest level of product performance. Securitech is poised for continued growth, with a collection of products under development which will carry us to new heights of leadership in the 21st century.
