Emergency exit hardware
shall conform to all applicable life safety and security
codes. Security/emergency exit locksets shall be Securitech
Series #8000, Panic Exit Deadlock System, listed by Underwriters
Laboratories.
Lockset shall be an automatic
deadbolt mortise lock and shall project a deadbolt each
time the door closes. Deadbolt throw shall be a minimum
of one inch when in the locked position.
Deadbolt activation shall
be by depression of a mechanical trigger by the strike plate
automatically and mechanically as the door closes. Trigger
shall be capable of operating on doors with a gap to the
frame of less than 3/16". There shall be no electrical
power required to lock the door. The deadbolt shall be tempered
stainless steel # 316.
Lockset shall be designed
to fit within a standard ANSI A156.2 (1-1/4"x8")
door mortise cavity. The lock case shall measure 6-1/4"
high by 4-1/4" deep and 7/8" wide. The lock case
shall be 3/32" thick and made of low carbon rolled
steel, chrome plated. The lock case shall have appropriate
posts and slots so as to accommodate the automatic deadbolt
activating gear.
The locking mechanism
shall be affixed to the existing door lock mounting tabs
by two 12x24 phillips head screws. The lock face plate shall
measure 1-1/4" wide by 8" tall and 7/8" thick.
The face plate shall contain appropriate openings for the
deadbolt and trigger housing. The face plate shall be affixed
to the lock mechanism by two 1/2" long allen head screws.
The trigger shall be
made of cast stainless steel and shall be housed in a rectangular
opening measuring 1/2" high by 23/32" wide. The
trigger height shall be 1/4". When depressed, the trigger
shall release a ratchet mechanism which projects the deadbolt.
The trigger apparatus shall be affixed within the lock case.
A strike plate containing
a trigger-activating gate shall be furnished and installed
within the existing strike opening in the frame. The strike
plate shall measure 4-7/8" high by 1-1/4 nominal width
and 5/64" thick. The strike shall be stamped of stainless
steel. There shall be a curved lip and roller to facilitate
smooth locking and retraction of the deadbolt. There shall
be a 1-3/4" high by 1-1/6" wide opening to accept
the deadbolt. The gate shall measure 11/16" tall and
shall be fastened to a post by a hardened steel pin to allow
the gate to pivot. The gate shall be capable of adjustment
via an allen screw through the post. There shall be a stainless
steel coil spring used to return the gate to its forward
position.
All exposed hardware
on the interior of the door shall be of brushed stainless
steel, with the exception of a hardened steel cylinder protector
and a one-inch diameter cross- bar, with a minimum tube
thickness of 3/32".
Non-fire labeled doors
may have a "dogging" option for daytime use, if
listed on the hardware schedule.
