| How
does the slip-clutch feature work? |
Forcing
the handle will not release the lock.
The handle will move downward without retracting
the latch. The handle can be reset by simply
lifiting it up.

Guardian
is an easy-to-use, A.D.A. compliant mortise latch lock
with lever handles. Exiting from the interior lever
handle retracts the latch.
Entry from the exterior requires a key at all times.
The key is inserted, turned and removed. The leaver
handle is then depressed which retracts the latch.
If the Classroom function is specified, athe lever remains
in the unlocked position until re-locked by key. This
feature is commonly used on a front office or retail
door, where the goal is to have a passage lock during
the day. |

USING
GUARDIAN WITH DIFFERENT MANUFACTURERS' MORTISE
LOCK BODIES
|
Mortise
locks which allow spindles which pass through
the hubs may use GUARDIAN's removable spindle
feature. If the lock's hubs have a blocker between
them, GUARDIAN can be supplied with 1/2 spindles.
GUARDIAN trim contains internal lever springs.
Therefore, mortise locksets prepared for knobs
may be used. Lock bodies with internal lever springs
are not required. This makes GUARDIAN ideal for
use as replacement trim when upgrading to meet
ADA. |

STOREROOM
& PASSAGE FUNCTION LOCKS

function lock bodies conatin an auxiliary deadlatch.
In order to use another manufacturer's lock body
with GUARDIAN trim, the exterior hub blocker needs
to be removed or disabled. This can be easily
done in the field and must be performed prior
to installation. Passage function locks do not
provide deadlatching and do not require modification. |

Lockset
shall be MAGLATCH, model #9007-UG, as manufactured by
Securitech Group, Inc. or approved equal.
Lockset shall be a heavy-duty mortise lockset which
contains a 3/4" deadlatch. Interior exiting shall
be by depression of the lever handle.
The exterior lever handle shall also contain a slip-clutch
apparatus which will lower without retracting the latch
if depressed without insertion of the key. The hub of
the interior lever shall contain a cap, which if removed
via allen key shall allow for the removal of the spindle.
After removal of the spindle the lockset is to be capable
of replacemtn without any further removal of the lock
trim.
Lockset trim shall be thru-bolted with four bolts and
one-way threaded caps. Bolts are to be covered by trim
brackets which are pop-riveted to the door. A handle
stop is to be affixed to the exterior trim to prevent
handle rotation over 180 degrees.
A latch protector shall be mounted to protrude over
the edge of the door and cover the latch and strike
on all outswing doors. |
