Product Engineer

Scope: Responsible for reviewing new product designs to optimize manufacturability and reliable reproducibility of low volume some complex instrumentation involving mechanisms. Also responsible for generating the manufacturing procedures, fixtures and tooling required to fabricate and assemble the product sub-assemblies and final product.

Duties & Responsibilities:
-Contribute as a member of New Product Development team representing Manufacturing Engineering and Production.
-Organize  and participate in formal module and system level concept design reviews focusing on manufacturability and produce-ability. Ensure the design concepts can be successfully manufactured with high quality and consistency.
-Participate in formal detail drawing design reviews focusing on the fabrication of the component parts and the ability of potential suppliers to produce quality component parts that meet specifications. Ensure that component part specifications can be achieved with cost effective technologies available.
-Procure or Design, Debug and validate equipment, fixtures and tooling required to reliably and consistently manufacture both sub-assemblies and the final product to meet specifications.
-Write step by step manufacturing procedures for assembling and exercising both sub-assemblies and final product to meet specifications using modern techniques including digital photography and graphical visual aids (VISUAL MANUFACTURING)
-Train manufacturing personnel on manufacturing assembly procedures, equipment and tooling so that they are equipped to properly manufacture high quality sub-assemblies and final product.
-Plan organize, implement and direct Manufacturing Engineering work activities which includes but not limited to: Use of Lean Concepts.
-Improve existing product lines through the Design for Manufacturability Process.
-Prepare estimates of the cost of manufacturing proposed new products: participate in and assist with the preparation of cost estimates for the more complex or unusual new products; and suggest design changes, as necessary to facilitate manufacture, improve quality, or reduce costs.
-Direct the development of manufacturing processes and equipment for new products; direct the continuing review, revision and improvement of processes and equipment for existing products, and participate in finding solutions to the more complex and unusual problems relating to manufacturing processes.
-Assist in the establishment of standard data use in determining production rates; assist in the establishment of the production rates on the basis of both standard data and time study; and participate in resolving disputes involving production rates.

-Render advice and assistance to Manufacturing Departments in connection with the solution of manufacturing difficulties; participate in finding solutions to the more complex manufacturing problems that arise; confer with Engineering and Marketing groups where design problems are involved

Our NYC Manufacturing Division, is seeking a superior Inside Sales Representative to help increase sales and manage customer relationships. You will sell a quality value added product, and establish and maintain solid relationships with existing and potential customers. This position will promote our exceptional service level, our relationship oriented approach, and our ability to solve door security problems.

Candidate Profile:
We are seeking a positive and hard working professional with inside sales experience who is familiar with providing high levels of customer service, preferably in an industrial workplace. You must have excellent organizational and communication skills with effective computer experience. The suitable candidate must be organized, well spoken and familiar with working in a fast pace environment with Inside Sales/Customer Service experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment.

Candidates must be self starters, able to work on their own with minimum supervision.

Qualifications:
2-3 years of inside sales experience, preferably with door hardware and application design

  • Prepare customer cost estimates, including labor, materials, and other manufacturing costs.
  • Develop detailed formal bid proposals by working with Engineering, Production and Outside Sales.
  • Establish sales price through the development of accurate cost quotes.
  • Verify design and component feasibility with customer and supplier.
  • Work closely with other departments, suppliers and customers to resolve issues
  • Exhibit Professional and confident telephone skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written skills
  • Have strong math and mechanical aptitude
  • Be detail oriented
  • Possess computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, ACT! etc)

Documenation Manager

Scope: Looking for a unique and talented person to add to our growing team. We are constantly evolving; and we love what we do!

We want you if you can provide at least 4.25 ± .005 out of the following 5 requirements:

1) Write technical documents that outline step-by-step instructions for assembly, installation, trouble shooting and/or procedure
2) Work well in Photoshop, Visio (for page layout), ACAD (for part revision), excel (for managing & revising packing lists), word (for correspondence), outlook (for scheduling and planning). All beyond NOVICE user level
3) Think outside the box while communicating effectively to those trapped inside the box
4) Have a technical (engineering) background, preferably mechanical
5) Use all the skills you learned in kindergarten

Duties & Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for researching, writing and updating documentation.

Daily tasks will include providing documents to the shipping department. This will require printing booklet, duplex and odd size pages and recording special models into job bins.

Main projects will include revising current process documents, instruction manuals and writing and editing new documents.

Candidate Profile:

The candidate must be able to document processes and systems in a concise and accurate manner, incorporating information from interviews, subject matter experts and product managers and engineer.

Previous experience as a technical writer is recommended. Ideal candidate will have experience creating task walkthroughs with screenshots and graphics, troubleshooting guides, process diagrams and flowcharts, instructions, manuals and help files. This position may also create documentation for the Engineering department.

Required Skills, Education and Experience:

-BA/BS required – prefer engineering, documentation configuration or similar
-Experience writing for manufacturers- Prototype development
-Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (Advanced). Experience with Visio (Moderate/Advanced) and MS Project preferred. Experience creating graphics in Adobe Photoshop a huge plus.
-Strong organizational and analytic skills. Able to present information for readers of different technical ability.
-Detail oriented.
-Ability to balance work requirements across multiple concurrent projects.
-Comfortable working collaboratively in a small team.
-Ability to edit and revise one's own documents.

-Must be outgoing, proactive, enthusiastic and have positive personality.
